Ohhhhhhh, Lavaux Vineyards. You truly are a world treasure: vines and vines and vines as far as the eye can see. Plus, this endless horizon of vines happens to be perched atop a Swiss mountainside overlooking Lake Geneva. Does that sound like the opening shot of a Rom-com or what?
Yes folks, this stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site lives up to the hype. If you are ever over in the area and are also toddler-less I highly recommend hiking the Swiss Wine Trails. We did not get a chance to go very far but that did not stop us from imbibing in the goods. Sipping wine at a vineyard overlooking a lake on the edge of a mountain; Switzerland just keeps coming up with these bucket-list items I never knew I had.
Our toddler deserves an award for his feats in napping that day; he really nailed it. Lately, the times are few and far between when my husband and I just get to sit, enjoy each other’s company, and reflect on our blessings (the biggest being the aforementioned toddler).
I really cannot sing the praises of this little corner of the paradise enough. We had a cute little bench, next to a cute little wine shack, with a cute little lady very graciously attempting English.
While we were partaking in the bliss of being able to sit down I could not help but try and capture the breathtaking views we were lapping up. Honestly you’re welcome, it’s all for you guys.
Then our perfect little blessing monster wakes up. He makes it pretty clearly he is not feeling this sit down and chill vibe we have going on, so he lets us know during our family photo op…
It is so funny to see K4 in the presence of such majesty because he literally could not care less.
Let me tell you, it was super fun chasing him up and down the wine trails after three glasses of wine… needless to say Kenny took over. Beeps really did have fun running around chasing birds, dogs, and rocks in the wake of our harried mutterings: “So sorry”, “Excuse us”. Luckily people are pretty cool about cute babies darting in front of them…
We eventually decided physically holding him was our only option for a moment’s rest.
Also, at this time, I would like to give a shout out to all the tiny birds that kept flying by and entertaining my kid. Great job guys, your efforts did not go unnoticed.
After we soaked up the mountain side splendor we walked the trails a bit and then took the trek down to see what these wineries were all about, because “When in Rome”, am I right?
We made it to the Lavaux Vinorama!
Mama was pleased.
So was baby…
I fancy myself a wino and was trying to explain to Kenny how to aerate the wine with your breath…
After a small wine tasting we made for the train station and home. We had such a great time becoming one with wine and nature. We are looking forward to coming back in the Springtime!
Finally, maniac train baby photos before signoff…
Thanks for reading guys! We have family visitors this week and we are peeing our pants with excitement (just one of us) so I’ll have another fun blog to write soon, hopefully I don’t punk out.
